Black Water Rafting in New Zealand

Jenny P is in the house!

New Zealand is proving to be a fantastic adventure so far. When I have more time, and better access to the internet, I will post an entry about our travels, including the madness of driving on the left side of the road, the craziest weather patterns I have ever seen and the incredible views at every turn.

For now, I want you to check out our pictures from the Waitomo caves, where we went black water rafting (you float on an inner tube, sort of like a tire, in the underground waters of these caves) to see the glow worms. It was AWESOME!!!! We had so much fun and I almost crapped my pants in fear a few times, especially when we had to jump off of waterfalls underground!

This is Lucas, our guide, showing us what NOT to do by jumping into that hole.

This is the group we were with...look how dry and giddy we are BEFORE the cave.

Mom, that's me in the cave! It doesn't capture how I'm hanging on the wall for dear life!

Jenn and I on the tubes......this is after the second waterfall jump, and we're just thrilled we survived!!!!
This is called the "eel formation". It's the only way you can keep track of everyone once the pitch dark blackness of the caves hit.

Oh Girls, you look like you're having a blast without me...by the way, where are the pics of the wine touring you were supposidly doing along the way. Sorry about the crossing girls, but you just gotta keep on treking and realize anything is better than being at home. Now Jen...all you have to do is convince Mila that jumping out of a plane is a fabulous idea...hahaha! Miss you guys,
Amber

Hey Lu,
Wow! What a birthday celebration. I'm glad that you two are in one piece still and back on solid ground. The pictures look amazing. Didnt your guide freeze wearing shorts and a tee? Crazy.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LU and make sure to come home in one piece.
Lots of Love,
Ingrid

Cameron, MayLing and Gryphon are also wishing you a happy birthday.

Hey Mila and Jenn
Pictures are amazing though I'm sure they don't do it any justice as to how much fun you're having and how beautiful it is! I can't access every picutre (the lovely pleasure of working at a hospital and them having the ability to deny access to certain things - though I'm sure all the picutres that aren't coming up on the computer are the "racy" ones of you two partying it up in the wee hours of the night!!!!).
Jenny P - here you'll be in K-town - hopefully I'll be able to see you!

Mila -keep us posted on your trip to back to japan.

safe travels always,
Melissa Magtanong (aka - the girl who would always turn around in class and pick on you both!!!)
